What does turning 25 mean?

These cars reach 25 years old within the next twelve months. From that month they can be imported to the United States, and to Australia under a concessional RAV entry approval granted before the car ships. Each car shows the month it qualifies.

What is the US 25 year rule?

The United States lets a car that does not meet its Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards be imported once it is 25 years old. The age is counted from the month the car was built, not its model year, so a car built in March 2001 qualifies in March 2026, not on 1 January. The emissions exemption comes earlier, at 21 years, so 25 years is the rule that decides.

Can I buy one before it turns 25?

Buyers in the UK and Europe can bid on these cars now, as there is no age rule for them. Buyers in the USA and Australia should wait until a car qualifies, and can watch the models they want as they come of age.

How do I bid on a car?

Choose a car, set the most you want to pay, and we bid for you at the auction in Japan. Bids close at 9pm UK time the evening before the auction. The deposit is £2,000 for a maximum bid up to £30,000, or 10% of the maximum above that.

How long does shipping take?
