Overview of the Honda Integra Type R DC2
This is a Honda Integra Type R coupe, chassis code E-DC2, first registered in July 1999 and offered at USS Tokyo as lot 10059. It carries five speed manual transmission, the 1.8 litre VTEC engine and a yellow respray, and it shows 51,460 km on the auction sheet, which is approximately 31,976 miles. The inspector gave it auction grade 4 with interior grade C. The sale is on 8 October 2026 in Japan.
The DC2 Honda Integra Type R is one of the defining front wheel drive performance cars, and this one arrives with a modified specification: aero parts, TEIN coilover suspension, a large rear spoiler, 17 inch alloy wheels and two Recaro seats are all listed as sales points. It is not a factory original example, but it is a low mileage Type R with a clearly documented list of faults, which suits a buyer who wants an honest base for a driver or a tidy up project.
The sheet confirms one thing early. The exterior colour is marked as changed, so this is a resprayed car. The original colour is written in a way that could not be read with certainty, so it is not confirmed.
The Drive Review
The Integra Type R is remembered for how it feels at the limit more than for its numbers. The B18C engine is a 1.8 litre four cylinder that makes roughly 200 PS and wants to be used at high revs. VTEC engages in the upper half of the rev range, the note hardens and the engine pulls to a redline at around 8,400 rpm. Below that it is perfectly tractable, but it is the top end that people buy it for.
The five speed manual has a short, precise shift and closely stacked ratios that keep the engine in its power band. Honda fitted a helical limited slip differential to the Type R, and with the double wishbone front suspension it lets the car turn in sharply and put its power down out of corners without drama. Steering is hydraulic, light by modern standards and full of detail. The car is compact and light compared with anything built today, and the stiff body is one reason the chassis is so praised.
Compared with a modern hot hatch there are no driving modes, no turbo torque and very little insulation. You drive it with your hands and feet, and the reward is real feedback. This particular car sits on TEIN coilovers, so ride height and damping will differ from standard. That can sharpen the car, but the setup, alignment and bushes should be checked on arrival.
Auction Details
The car is lot 10059 at USS Tokyo, in the manual transmission section of the auction, marked on the sheet as the MT corner. The auction date in Japan is 8 October 2026. The sheet gives auction grade 4, interior grade C, and the photographs and sheet support an exterior grade of 4 as well. The inspection expiry box is blank, so the remaining shaken is not shown.
The auction start price is ¥1,880,000. The Autoselecta guide bidding range for this car is £6,500 to £10,000. That is an estimated range based on the market, not a guaranteed purchase price, and we cannot say the car will sell within it. Twelve similar cars have sold at Japanese auctions between £2,963 and £12,951, typically about £9,223, though that range includes other versions and conditions and is not a record of Autoselecta sales. The minimum bid and the landed cost to your country are worked out live, so please see the price panel on this page.
All bids must be submitted before 9PM UK time the evening before auction. For this car that means by 9pm UK time on Wednesday 7 October.
Vehicle Specifications
The sheet gives the model as Honda Integra, grade Type R, chassis code E-DC2 and frame number DC2-1307437. First registration is Heisei 11, July, which is July 1999. The body is a coupe, with four seats listed, and the dimensions are 438 cm long, 169 cm wide and 131 cm high. The engine is 1,800 cc and runs on petrol. Transmission is a five speed floor manual, and drive is 2WD, which on this car means the front wheels.
The odometer on the sheet reads 51,460 km, or about 31,976 miles. The instrument cluster photograph shows a reading consistent with this. The exterior is yellow after a respray. The factory colour code box is blank and the interior colour box is blank, although the photographs show red seats with black trim. The sheet does not mark the steering side, but the interior photographs show a right hand drive layout. The recycling fee is shown as not deposited.
Factory Features and Equipment
The sheet marks power steering and power windows, and air conditioning is listed as fitted, though it does not work properly (see the inspector comments below). The photographs show a climate panel and an aftermarket looking stereo slot in the centre console, a gear lever with a red stitched gaiter, a three spoke steering wheel, and a small fire extinguisher mounted by the passenger footwell. The sheet does not mention a navigation system, ETC, a spare wheel, owner manuals or a spare key, so none of these are confirmed.
The modified items listed as sales points are aero parts, TEIN coilover suspension, a large rear spoiler, 17 inch alloy wheels and two Recaro seats. The photographs show a front lip, a tall rear wing, silver multi spoke wheels and bright red front seats. The inspector also notes an aftermarket air cleaner in the engine bay.
The new car service book box on the sheet is blank, so a service history and maintenance books are not confirmed.
Japanese Auction Report Translation
The inspector wrote the following. Colour changed car, meaning it has been resprayed a different colour. Scratches, dents, paintwork and waves in various places. Air conditioning does not blow cold. Aftermarket air cleaner. Seats worn, torn and faded. Cabin scuffed and dirty. Wheel scratches. Paint in the engine bay. Underside painted, rust.
The sheet also confirms air conditioning fitted, power steering, power windows, and the sales points above. The seller's original colour was written in a way that we could not read with confidence, so it is not confirmed. The service book box is blank, the colour code and interior colour boxes are blank, and the inspection expiry is not shown. No engine noise, transmission fault, oil leak or warning light is recorded in the inspector comments, but that is not the same as a mechanical clearance, and nothing on the sheet confirms the clutch or gearbox condition.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The diagram has three markings. At the front of the bonnet is a mark that reads as stone chips, which is normal on a car of this age and means small paint chips from road debris. At the centre of the roof is U1, a small dent. On the right side, a leader line marked U2, a dent, ends at the right edge of the roof outline, so it could refer to the roof edge or the right side doors. We could not tell which, so the exact location is not confirmed.
The diagram carries no W, XX or S marks, but the inspector comments mention paintwork and waves in various places, together with the respray. That points to repaired or refinished panels, so look closely at panel gaps, paint thickness and the quality of the colour change when the car arrives. The wheels have scratches, and the underside is described as painted with rust.
The photographs show a clean, glossy yellow finish with the Type R decals in place and no obvious body damage from the angles provided. Overall this reads as a usable enthusiast condition car, tidy at a glance but with a respray, some dents and underside rust that need honest consideration.
Interior Condition
Interior grade C is the weakest part of the report. The inspector says the seats are worn, torn and faded, and the cabin is scuffed and dirty. The photographs show red front seats with visible fading and a worn look to the cushion, which backs this up. The dashboard looks sound in the photographs and the rubber floor mats are in place. The instrument cluster appears clear and the odometer reading is visible. The headlining, rear seats, boot and carpets are not shown well enough to judge, and the sheet does not comment on smoke or odours, so those are not confirmed.
The air conditioning does not blow cold. It may need only a regas, or a repair, and that is not known. Budget for a seat retrim or replacement and a good interior clean if you want to bring the cabin up to the standard of the exterior.
Japanese Auction Grades
Auction grades run from 1 to 5 for the overall car, with 4 meaning good condition with some marks or repairs, and interior grades run from A to D. Grade 4 with interior C fits a car with a respray, dents and a tired cabin.
Model History
The Honda Integra Type R arrived in Japan in 1995 as the DC2 and was developed as a road car with circuit ability. The B18C engine was hand finished with polished and matched intake ports, and the car shed weight and gained a stiffer body, a helical limited slip differential and firmer suspension. A revised version followed in 1998 with updates to the engine and chassis, and this July 1999 car belongs to that later phase of production. The Type R ran until 2001. Honda also sold a version in North America as the Acura Integra Type R, but a Japanese market car like this has its own front end and specification.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
DC2 values have risen because good ones are getting hard to find. The cars were driven hard, modified, crashed and stolen, and many have been converted to other purposes, so unmolested low mileage examples are rare. The B18C is regarded as one of the great high revving four cylinders, the manual gearbox and limited slip differential make for a pure driving experience, and the Type R badge carries real weight for a generation of enthusiasts now able to buy one.
An important point to understand is that this car is not a collector grade original. It is resprayed and modified, and values for unmodified, factory colour cars sit above that. For many buyers that is the appeal, since a driver grade Type R with a lower entry price can be enjoyed rather than stored. We cannot guarantee future values and do not suggest this car as an investment.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
Start with the paint and underside, since this car has a respray, waves in the paintwork and underside rust. Check the sills, rear arches and floor for corrosion, and look for signs of past accident repair. Next, the gearbox. Second and third gear synchros can wear on hard used cars, so check for crunching shifts, and confirm clutch condition. Listen for noise from the engine when VTEC engages, and check for oil leaks around the cam covers and crank seals.
The aftermarket TEIN coilovers, air cleaner and aero parts mean the car is no longer standard, so ask what else may have changed. A compression test, a differential check and a full fluid service are sensible after delivery. Do not rely on the air conditioning without inspection, and plan for new seat covers.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japan is where DC2 Type R cars were originally sold, and the market there offers a deep choice, honest auction sheets and generally lower mileage than cars found elsewhere. Here is a car with a published grade and inspector report, which lets you assess faults before you bid.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but are still used vehicles. The auction sheet is an independent condition guide and not a mechanical warranty. An older performance car like this may need servicing, maintenance or refurbishment after purchase. Please note the inspector warnings in particular: the car is resprayed, the air conditioning does not blow cold, the seats are worn, torn and faded, the cabin is scuffed and dirty, there is paint in the engine bay, the underside is painted with rust, and there are stone chips on the bonnet with dents on the roof and right side. Service history, spare keys and manuals are not confirmed on the sheet.
