Autoselecta auction report
Overview of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class G450d Schöckl Edition
This Mercedes-Benz G-Class G450d Schöckl Edition is offered at USS HAA Kobe on 10 October 2026 as lot 82177. It is a September 2026 first registration finished in matt Night Black Magno, with a 3.0 litre diesel engine, 4WD, a column automatic and left hand drive. The sheet records just 35 km, roughly 22 miles, so this is effectively a new car. It carries auction grade S, interior grade A and no marks at all on the damage diagram, and the sheet notes that this is its first time at auction.
The Schöckl Edition is a limited version built through the MANUFAKTUR programme, and this car adds the AMG Line, 20 inch black alloy wheels and ventilated seats. It is a dealer import, which matters to buyers who want an official Mercedes-Benz supply history behind a car of this price.
The Drive Review
The current G-Class is still a ladder frame truck with permanent four wheel drive and three locking differentials, and that is the heart of its appeal. The G450d uses Mercedes-Benz's 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel with a nine speed automatic. Expect effortless low rev pull rather than a rev hungry character, which suits a tall, upright body better than a petrol engine chasing power.
On the road the modern car is far more civilised than the 1979 original. Steering is quicker and the ride is settled, yet the body is still a slab sided box with a high driving position and a gently tall stance. It does not corner like an SUV built on a car platform, and that is exactly why enthusiasts like it. It feels engineered rather than styled, and the clunk of the doors and the upright glasshouse remind you of its military and expedition roots.
The diesel is the sensible choice for distance and for towing or rough ground. Compared with the AMG V8 versions it trades noise and drama for economy and calm. This particular car also has a very low delivery mileage, so it should feel completely fresh.
Auction Details

Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The damage diagram carries no marks. There are no scratch, dent, repair, repaint, rust or glass codes anywhere on the car. The exterior grade is S, which fits the photographs of clean matt paintwork, straight panels and unmarked black alloys. Matt paint needs care, as it cannot be polished out like gloss, but nothing in the photographs points to a problem. Overall this is collector grade, effectively a new car, though it has been transported and shown at auction, so look closely at the photographs when you receive the full set.
Interior Condition
The interior grade is A. The photographs show black leather seats with contrast stitching, a wide digital instrument and media display, metal faced pedals, and factory protective plastic still on the steering wheel and front seats, which fits the 35 km reading. The sheet gives no inspector comments about odours, wear or damage inside. One instrument cluster photograph shows a Japanese message that begins by saying the vehicle is running, followed by text about locking, but the rest is hidden, so it cannot be fully read. It also shows a 93 km fuel range and an outside temperature of 24.5 degrees.
Please note that three of the photographs in this set (the sunroof view, the interior and odometer collage showing 10,831 km, and the four view exterior collage) appear to show a different Mercedes-Benz and are not taken as evidence for this car. A sunroof is therefore not confirmed for this G-Class.
Japanese Auction Grades
Grade S is the top of the Japanese auction scale and is normally given to new or virtually unused vehicles. Interior grade A means very good, with little or no wear. Here both grades match the 35 km reading and the clean diagram.
The G-Class began in 1979 as the Geländewagen, developed with Steyr Puch in Graz, Austria, and it has remained a box shaped, ladder frame four wheel drive ever since. The thoroughly redesigned 2018 generation, the 465 series, kept the silhouette and brought a modern chassis, independent front suspension and a digital cockpit. The Schöckl is the mountain near Graz where G-Class models are tested, which is the reference behind this edition's name, and the spare cover badge on this car shows a contour map with coordinates.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
The G-Class has an unusually long and consistent production history, a distinctive design and strong global demand. This is a limited edition, with MANUFAKTUR specification, matt paint, only 35 km and first time auction status, which makes it a clean and uncommon example. A dealer import with a service book adds confidence, and a car this unused is hard to find in any market. Values depend on many factors and nothing here is a guarantee of future worth.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
For the 465 series, check that the matt paint has not been polished or cleaned with the wrong products, as it marks easily and cannot be repaired locally. Look closely at the door shut gaps and the wide fender flares, which are typical areas for transport damage. Confirm the operation of the locking differentials and the low range selector on first drive, and ask for software updates on the MBUX display to be checked, since early 2018 onward cars have had electronic updates. Diesel emissions systems and AdBlue rules differ between countries, so confirm your own regulations. On this sheet, ask for the full photograph set to verify the interior and equipment, since the sheet confirms the service book only.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japanese auctions offer genuine low mileage vehicles with independent grading, and this car is a rare example of a limited edition G-Class offered with 35 km. Left hand drive also suits many export markets without conversion.
Ultimate Guide For Japanese Imports
After the auction win, the car is deregistered, prepared and shipped, and you then handle registration and compliance in your own country. Check your own import, emissions and safety rules before bidding, since these vary widely and a 2026 car may face different requirements to an older one.
Autoselecta gives you direct access to Japanese auctions, translated and checked auction sheets, bidding assistance, export handling, shipping, tracking where available, and import support in your own country, with communication throughout the process.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but remain used vehicles, even at 35 km. The auction sheet is an independent condition guide, not a mechanical warranty. Please note that the owner's manual, warranty booklet and spare key are to be sent later, so confirm with Autoselecta before bidding, and that three of the photographs appear to show another vehicle. Some servicing or preparation may be needed after purchase.
