Overview of the Honda Civic Type R FL5
This is a July 2025 Honda Civic Type R, chassis 6BA-FL5, offered at USS Tokyo as lot 18133 on 15 October 2026. It is finished in blue, colour code B637P, and the sheet confirms this is the original colour with no colour change. The odometer reads just 10 km, about 6 miles, so this is effectively a new car arriving through the auction system. It carries an auction grade of 6, an interior grade of A and a completely clean damage diagram.
The Honda Civic Type R is the current high point of the front wheel drive hot hatch, and cars this close to delivery condition are rarely seen at auction. For a buyer in any export market, it is a chance to secure a current generation Type R with Japanese dealer specification, a maintenance booklet and a spare key.
The Drive Review
The FL5 Type R is powered by the 2.0 litre turbocharged K20C engine, producing roughly 330 PS in Japanese specification. It is paired with a six speed manual gearbox with automatic rev matching, and power goes to the front wheels through a helical limited slip differential. Those are the ingredients that matter, and Honda has tuned them with obvious care.
The character is what sets it apart. The turbo engine pulls cleanly to a high redline, the throttle response is sharp for a boosted unit, and the gearshift has a short, mechanical, precise feel that few current cars can match. The chassis is the real story. Adaptive dampers give a genuine split between Comfort and the firmer R mode, and the steering is accurate and well weighted. The result is a car that puts power down with remarkable composure and still works on an ordinary road. It is also more refined than the FK8 that came before, and less shouty in the way it goes about things.
The cluster in the auction photographs shows Comfort mode selected with the gearbox in neutral, which suits a car that has only just been delivered.

The minimum bid and landed cost for your country are calculated live in the price panel on this page.

The notes add LED headlights and a smart key.
The photographs support much of this. The black wheels carry red calipers, the interior shows red seats and a suede wrapped steering wheel, and a Type R badge sits on the honeycomb dashboard trim. A centre screen is visible. A premium floor mat is not clearly shown, though a protective paper mat lies in the driver's footwell.
Japanese Auction Report Translation
The sheet is headed One More Prime Corner. The usage history box is blank. The model is Honda Civic, grade Type R, five doors, chassis 6BA-FL5, engine 2000 cc, first registered July 2025, shaken valid until July 2028. Mileage is 10 km. The shift is F6, a six speed floor manual, and the air conditioning is automatic. The exterior colour is blue, original, with no colour change, colour number B637P. Fuel is petrol. The interior colour is blank. Neither 2WD nor 4WD is marked. The import car box is not filled in. Transfer documents expiry, load capacity and serial number are blank. The type designation is 20479 and the classification number is 0001, though the mark before each is read as a closing bracket rather than a 7.
The new car maintenance booklet with warranty is marked present. The notes read: owner's manual, spare key with key tag, warranty booklet to follow at a later date. It is not certain whether later date applies to the warranty booklet alone or to the whole list, so confirm with us before relying on any of those items. The inspector's report box (USS use) is empty, there are no written faults or warnings, and the spare wheel circle is not marked. The sheet has some circled marks beside the first sales point and second note line that cannot be read with confidence.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The vehicle diagram carries no marks at all. There are no scratches, dents, repair marks, repainted panels, replaced panels, rust, corrosion or glass damage recorded anywhere on the body. The auction photographs agree with this, showing clean blue bodywork, an intact rear wing, black alloy wheels and no visible scuffs on the bumpers or side skirts. On this evidence the condition is close to collector grade, which is what we would expect from a car with 10 km. The photographs are taken in the auction hall under strong lighting, so we suggest asking us for further images if you want a closer check of any panel.
Interior Condition
The interior is graded A. The photographs show red suede sports seats, a black suede steering wheel, an aluminium topped gear lever, the red carpeted floor and the honeycomb dashboard trim with Type R badge. In one picture the driver's footwell carries a protective paper mat and the cabin appears unworn. The sheet records no marks, odours or damage. The digital instrument cluster is visible in a separate photograph, with the gearbox showing neutral and the speedometer at 0 km/h. The cluster displays a fuel symbol and a Japanese message, and nothing else about it is covered by the sheet, so ask us about it if it concerns you.
Japanese Auction Grades
Auction grades summarise the overall condition on a numerical scale, with 6 a very high grade used for cars in close to new condition. The interior grade of A is the top of the letter scale. Together with a blank damage diagram, they describe a car of exceptional condition for its type.
Model History
The Civic Type R has a long reputation, from the EK9 and EP3 through the FD2 and the turbocharged FK2 and FK8, each one a front wheel drive benchmark. The FL5 is the eleventh generation Civic based Type R, launched in 2022. It keeps the 2.0 litre turbo and manual only layout of the FK8 and adds sharper dynamics, a cleaner design and more refined interior, with the red suede seats and honeycomb dash trim visible in this car.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
The Type R is one of the few new performance cars sold with only a manual gearbox, and enthusiasts know it. Honda has also been clear that the FL5 is the final Type R before electrification changes the model line, which adds to its appeal. Cars in Japanese dealer specification with very low mileage and complete paperwork are what long term collectors look for. We would not call any car an investment and cannot promise future values. But demand for the Type R is global, and finding a low mileage example is getting harder.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
The FL5 is a young car, so wear related faults are not a concern. On a new Type R, the points to confirm are the delivery paperwork and manuals, the maintenance booklet and the warranty booklet, which the sheet says will follow later. Ask us about the later date point in the notes. The K20C turbo engine has a good record, but a high performance turbo engine needs regular oil changes and a proper warm up. Many Type R owners track their cars, so on later cars check for brake and tyre wear. In your country, check that the car can be registered with the Japanese specification, including the infotainment and speedometer, and ask about the local equivalent of Honda Sensing features.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japanese auction cars are inspected, graded and documented in detail, and the best examples are often delivered with books and keys. A 10 km Type R in grade 6 is the sort of car that is hard to find with this level of transparency anywhere else. Right hand drive suits many export markets.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but are still used vehicles, and the auction sheet is an independent condition guide, not a mechanical warranty. This car has no inspector comments and no diagram marks, but the warranty booklet is noted as to follow at a later date, and the registration plate, interior colour and certain circled marks could not be read with confidence. Confirm those details with us before you bid.
