Overview of the Mercedes-Benz G400d Professional Edition
This is a January 2024 Mercedes-Benz G400d Professional Edition, chassis code 3DA-463350, offered at USS Kyushu as lot 83063 on 17 October 2026 (Japan time). It is a five door, right hand drive, four wheel drive diesel with a 3.0 litre engine and an automatic gearbox, finished in beige (colour code 464) over black leather. The odometer reads just 2,905 km, approximately 1,805 miles, and the sheet gives it an auction grade of 6 with an interior grade of A.
The Professional Edition is the version for buyers who want the G-Class to look as though it means business. This car carries the Professional roof rack, rear ladder and rear mounted tyre holder, all listed on the sheet and clearly visible in the photographs. It is a dealer import, the service book is present, and the only recorded cosmetic points are an unsized scratch on the front bumper and light wrinkling on the seats. For a worldwide buyer wanting a nearly new G-Class from Japan, it is a genuinely clean starting point.
The Drive Review
The current W463A generation G-Class keeps the upright, slab sided shape of the original 1979 truck but is a very different machine underneath. The G400d is powered by the 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel, paired with Mercedes' nine speed automatic and permanent four wheel drive with locking differentials. The result is a calm, torquey way of covering ground. The diesel pulls from low revs with a deep, muted note, and the gearbox spends most of its time unobtrusively in a high gear.
The chassis is far more civilised than the shape suggests. The older car's vague steering and crude ride were replaced by independent front suspension and a much stiffer body, so the G400d tracks well on the motorway and feels secure in town. It is still tall and heavy, and it leans and wallows next to a modern crossover, but that is part of the appeal. The driving position is high, the view over the bonnet is commanding and the doors close with that distinctive clunk. Off the tarmac, the three differential locks and low range gearing mean it remains capable of far more than most owners will ever ask of it.
The diesel suits the car better than the louder petrol versions for many buyers. It offers long range, strong mid range pull and relaxed cruising, which is exactly what a roof rack and ladder equipped Professional model suggests.

Factory Features and Equipment
The sheet lists the Luxury package, a cherry wood luggage floor, Burmester surround sound (written as Brumester on the sheet), a dash camera, genuine factory navigation with digital terrestrial TV and a 360 degree camera, and the three Professional items: the rear ladder, the roof rack and the tyre holder. Automatic air conditioning is marked on the sheet. The photographs show the twin widescreen display, turbine style air vents, quilted black leather front seats, a leather steering wheel with multifunction controls, drilled metal pedals and the column mounted selector. Black alloy wheels and black wheel arch extensions are visible on the exterior.
The equipment box on the sheet (sunroof, genuine alloy wheels, power steering, power windows, leather, TV, navigation and airbags) could not be read with confidence, because every label sits in an identical printed oval. For that reason none of those items are confirmed from the box, although some are evident from the photographs. The steering box entry is blank.
Japanese Auction Report Translation
The sheet reads as follows. Lot 83063. First registration January 2024 (Reiwa 6). Mercedes-Benz G-Class, grade G400d Professional Edition, chassis code 3DA-463350, 3,000 cc, five door, 4WD. The new car service book with warranty is present and circled. Import type is dealer. Recycling deposit 18,340 yen. Five seats. Registration Fukuoka 330 ni 2773.
Points to note: the owner's manual, warranty booklet and spare key are to be supplied at a later date, meaning they are not with the car on the day. The inspector's report records small wrinkles and scuffs on the seats. No other inspector comments are readable, and the bottom of the sheet is cut off, so any notes below the first choice line cannot be read. The service book is present. Whether the car has one key or two is not otherwise confirmed.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The diagram has one mark: the letter A at the front bumper. A means a scratch, but it is written without a size number on this sheet, so the severity is not stated. A scratch of this kind on a front bumper is a minor cosmetic point, and in the photographs the lower black bumper looks tidy, though a mark of this size may not show at this resolution. A spare tyre circle is drawn at the rear of the diagram with no code on it, which simply records the rear mounted spare seen in the photographs.
There are no dent, repair, repaint, rust, corrosion or glass marks on the diagram. The photographs show beige paint with good gloss, straight panels and the black plastic trim sitting evenly. With a grade 6 exterior and under 3,000 km, the overall condition is close to collector grade for a modern car, with only light handling marks recorded.
Interior Condition
The interior grade is A. The only inspector comment is small wrinkles and scuffs on the seats. The photograph shows quilted black leather with contrast stitching and the driver's seat looks clean. The dashboard, display and door cards look tidy, and no odour, smoke, headlining or dashboard damage is recorded on the sheet. A blue key case sits on the passenger seat, but the spare key is declared as arriving later. The instrument cluster photograph shows a half tank of fuel, an AdBlue gauge, and the gear selector in P.
Japanese Auction Grades
Auction grades run from 1 up to 6, with 6 the top of the scale for a near new car, so a grade 6 suggests excellent exterior condition. The interior grade A is the best interior rating. Together they describe a car that the inspector found in exceptional shape, though the sheet is a guide and not a warranty.
Model History
The G-Class (Geländewagen) began in 1979 as a military and utility vehicle developed with Steyr Puch and built in Graz, Austria. Its square design, ladder frame and locking differentials survived for four decades, even as it moved upmarket into a luxury icon. The W463A generation arrived in 2018 as an almost entirely new vehicle that kept the look and the character. It brought independent front suspension, a more modern cabin and a wider choice of engines, including the 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel in the G400d.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
Few vehicles have such a continuous line. The G-Class has the same silhouette as a truck from 1979, and demand for it has stayed strong around the world. The W463A is the generation where the classic shape meets modern safety and technology, and a low mileage Professional Edition with its roof rack and ladder stands out from the more common luxury spec cars. Right hand drive versions in good condition are not always easy to find, and a Japanese dealer import with a service book and low mileage is particularly attractive. This is a modern car and not a classic, and no future value is guaranteed, but the model has a loyal following and a very strong identity.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
On a diesel G-Class the key points are the emissions system and servicing. Ask about the AdBlue system and the diesel particulate filter, which prefer regular longer runs to constant short trips, and check there are no warnings on the dash at delivery. Look underneath for signs of off road use, which is common on this model, and check the differential locks engage normally. The air suspension and electronics on later G-Class models are complex, so a full diagnostic scan after arrival is sensible. On this car, check the paint at the front bumper where the scratch is recorded, and the seat leather where the inspector noted wrinkles. Confirm the roof rack, ladder and tyre holder mounting points are sound and that your country's rules allow them as fitted. Finally, the manual, warranty booklet and spare key are to follow later, so ask about their arrival before you buy.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japan's dealer imported cars are often very low mileage, serviced to schedule and kept indoors. The inspection sheet gives an independent condition report before you bid, which is rarely available on cars sold locally. For a G-Class with under 3,000 km this makes for a transparent way to buy a near new vehicle.
Ultimate Guide For Japanese Imports
The process is simple. You choose a car, place a maximum bid through Autoselecta, and if you win, the car is exported and shipped to your country. Before bidding, check your country's rules on age, emissions, right hand drive and registration, because they vary widely. Your local importer or registration authority can confirm what is needed for a 2024 diesel vehicle.
Why Import Through Autoselecta
Autoselecta gives you direct access to Japanese auctions, translated and checked auction sheets, and help from sourcing to bidding. We handle export documentation, shipping and arrival support, with tracking where available, and we stay in touch throughout. We do not make claims about savings, only a clear and honest process.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but are still used vehicles. The sheet is an independent condition guide, not a mechanical warranty. Even a nearly new car may need servicing or checks after purchase. Please note the inspector's warnings again: small wrinkles and scuffs on the seats, an unsized scratch on the front bumper, and the owner's manual, warranty booklet and spare key to be supplied at a later date. The equipment box and the bottom of the sheet could not be read.
