Overview of the Nissan Skyline 25GT Turbo ER34
This is a March 1999 Nissan Skyline 25GT Turbo coupe, chassis code GF-ER34, finished in white (colour code QM1) with black toned interior. It is a five speed manual with a 2,500 cc turbocharged petrol engine, and it shows 116,300 km on the sheet, approximately 72,270 miles. USS Nagoya & Hokuriku graded it 4 overall with interior grade B, and it is offered as lot 50094 in the Prime Corner section.
The sheet marks it as a car bought in directly from a private owner, and the new car service book with warranty booklet is recorded as present. The Nissan Skyline 25GT Turbo is the right hand drive rear wheel drive coupe that many enthusiasts consider the sensible, tuneable alternative to the GT-R, and a manual car in this condition is increasingly hard to find.
The auction start price is ¥4,280,000. The Autoselecta guide bidding range is £12,500 to £23,250. Twelve similar cars sold at Japanese auctions between £16,702 and £20,185, typically about £18,076, although that range includes other versions and conditions. The guide is an estimated bidding range, not a guaranteed purchase price, and we cannot say the car will sell within it. The minimum bid and landed costs are calculated live in the price panel on this page.
The Drive Review: Nissan Skyline 25GT Turbo ER34
The ER34 25GT Turbo uses the RB25DET, a 2.5 litre turbocharged straight six. It is a smooth, tractable engine with a strong mid range, and it pulls cleanly from low revolutions to the red line on the tachometer, which is marked up to 9,000 rpm on this car's cluster. Its character is more relaxed than the twin turbo GT-R unit, with a single turbo that spools quickly and gives the car an easy, muscular surge rather than a peaky rush.
The five speed manual suits it well. The shift is mechanical and a little notchy by modern standards, and the engine rewards a driver who stays in the torque. Power goes to the rear wheels only, which is what the sheet's 2WD entry confirms, and the ER34 coupe has a stiffer shell than the earlier R33. It turns in more crisply and feels tighter over mid corner bumps.
Steering is hydraulically assisted, with real feedback through the rim. Compared with a modern performance car there is no stability trickery to hide behind, so the throttle matters in a corner and the car rewards smooth inputs. It is a traditional, engaging, slightly raw driving experience, which is exactly what buyers want from it.
This car has TRUST coilover suspension noted on the sheet, so ride and handling will differ from the factory setup. The photographs also show a Blitz Power Meter ST display beside the instrument cluster. What else has been done to the engine is not confirmed on the sheet, and the exhaust is noted as genuine.

Japanese Auction Report Translation
The sheet title is Prime Corner. The sales points read: car bought in directly from a private owner, genuine five speed manual, turbo model, genuine silencer, rear wing and genuine 17 inch alloy wheels.
The points to note read: TRUST coilover suspension, xenon headlights, Carrozzeria navigation, digital terrestrial TV, ETC toll card unit, keyless entry, genuine rear privacy glass and a timing belt replacement sticker present. The sheet also states that the owner's manual and warranty booklet will be sent later. The new car service book with warranty booklet is marked as present. A spare key is not mentioned, so it is not confirmed.
The inspector's report reads: steering wheel scuffed, seat burn hole and scuffing, cabin partly dirty and scratched, wheels scratched, some rust on the underside, and small scratches and small dents. The steering box entry in the import car section is blank. The sheet gives no engine, gearbox, clutch, leak or air conditioning faults, but a sheet is not a mechanical inspection report, so those points are not confirmed beyond what is written.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition of This Skyline
The diagram shows A1 on the front bumper and A1 on the bonnet, both small scratches. There is a mark read as stone chips (トビ A) at the front windscreen area, though this is uncertain and it could refer to the front of the roof. U1 appears on the right front wing and on the right side door, both small dents.
The most significant entry is W3 on the right rear quarter panel, a large repair mark or panel wave that may require repainting. It suggests the panel has been repaired, and it deserves close inspection of the paint and the structure behind it.
On the left side, AU2 is marked at door or sill level, a larger scratch with touch up. The exact position could not be read with confidence. AU1 is marked on the left rear quarter panel, a small scratch with touch up, and AU2 on the rear bumper, a scratch with touch up. A spare tyre is drawn on the diagram without a code.
Overall the body is in usable enthusiast condition. The marks are mostly light, with the right rear quarter repair being the main item. The photographs show clean white paintwork, the original style rear wing and the alloy wheels, which the inspector notes as scratched. The sheet records some rust on the underside, so the underbody needs a careful look.
Interior Condition
The interior grade is B. The cabin is black toned, with grey and black cloth seats, and the photographs show a Nissan steering wheel with red stitching, a short gear lever with a leather gaiter and the navigation screen in the centre. The inspector notes a scuffed steering wheel, a burn hole and scuffing on a seat, and a cabin that is partly dirty and scratched. The wheel shows visible wear in the photographs.
The cluster shows 116,300 km in the photograph. The seat burn hole will be the most noticeable item, and it may need a repair or retrim. Dashboard cracking, headlining and smell are not mentioned on the sheet, so their condition is not confirmed.
Japanese Auction Grades
Grade 4 is a good score for a car of this age, meaning it has only minor cosmetic imperfections and no major issues recorded. Interior grade B indicates average wear with some marks. The exterior grade is 4. Grades are an independent guide, but the written comments and diagram matter just as much.
Model History
The R34 Skyline was launched in 1998 as the successor to the R33, and it was widely praised for its shorter wheelbase, stiffer body and sharper design. The GT-R followed in 1999, but the 25GT Turbo is the version most buyers actually saw on the road. It uses the RB25DET, with a single turbo and a manual or automatic gearbox.
The 25GT Turbo is a distinct car from the GT-R, which has the RB26DETT and all wheel drive. It was offered as a sports coupe with a more accessible price, and it has now become a popular car in its own right, partly because of its place in Japanese car culture and its link to the wider Skyline legend.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
The R34 Skyline is a central car of the late 1990s Japanese performance era. Its fame has been boosted by motorsport, video games and film, and GT-R values have risen sharply. The 25GT Turbo has followed, because it offers the same shape, the same straight six character and rear wheel drive without the GT-R price.
Manual cars are the most wanted, and a manual with a service book and a modest mileage is a strong proposition. Many ER34 coupes have been modified, crashed or exported, so clean surviving cars are becoming harder to find. This car is 1999 and is now eligible for the United States under the 25 year rule. We cannot promise any future value, and buyers should purchase because they want the car.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
On the RB25DET, the timing belt is a service item, and this car has a replacement sticker noted on the sheet. Ask for the date and mileage, because the sticker alone does not prove the work. Check for oil leaks around the cam covers and the rear of the engine, and look at the turbo for shaft play or smoke. The ER34 is known for worn gearbox synchronisers and a tired clutch on higher mileage cars, so test every gear and the clutch action.
Rust is the main bodywork concern on Skylines, particularly around the sills, rear arches and the boot floor, and the sheet already notes some rust on the underside. With a W3 mark on the right rear quarter, check that panel for filler, paint quality and the condition of the surrounding seams. Coilovers need an alignment and a ride quality check, and the aftermarket gauges and navigation unit should be checked for wiring quality. The seat burn hole, steering wheel wear and scratched wheels are all noted on the sheet and will need to be allowed for.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but are still used vehicles. An auction sheet is an independent condition guide, not a mechanical warranty. A 1999 performance car may need servicing, maintenance or refurbishment after purchase. For this car, remember the inspector's notes of a scuffed steering wheel, a seat burn hole, a partly dirty and scratched cabin, scratched wheels, some underside rust, small scratches and dents, and the W3 repair or wave on the right rear quarter. The owner's manual and warranty booklet are noted as to be sent later, and a spare key is not confirmed.
