Overview of the Ferrari 488 Pista
This is a 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista in Nero black, offered at USS Tokyo as lot 75591 on 8 October 2026. It is a left hand drive dealer import, first registered in September 2019 (Reiwa 1), and the sheet records 7,065 km, approximately 4,390 miles. The auction grade is 5 with an interior grade of A. The new car service book with warranty card is marked as present, and the shaken runs to 19 September 2028.
The sheet gives the body as CP, coupe. However, the personalisation plate in the photographs reads 488 Pista Spider, and the dashboard and floor mats carry Pista Spider badging, so the car appears to be the open top Spider. We would ask you to confirm the body style with Autoselecta before you bid. Whichever it proves to be, the specification is rich: an extended racing livery in Bianco Avus over Nero DS paint, Cuoio Alcantara, carbon racing seats, a suspension lifter, forged dark wheels, yellow calipers and carbon fibre throughout.
The feed rounds the mileage to 8,000 km, but the sheet reading of 7,065 km is the one used in this report. The instrument cluster in the photographs shows 7,075 and 7,073 km, so the car has clearly been driven a little since the sheet was written or the photographs were taken at a different moment. The Ferrari 488 Pista is the track focused, road legal expression of Ferrari's mid engined twin turbo V8, and a low mileage example in this condition is rarely offered from Japan.
The Drive Review
The 488 Pista is built around a 3.9 litre twin turbocharged V8 developing 720 PS, closely related to the engine in Ferrari's racing programme. Its character is the opposite of the soft, muted turbo engines many people expect. Throttle response is sharp, the engine pulls hard right to the redline, and the sound is dense and metallic. The tachometer in the photographs is marked up to 10,000 rpm on its scale, with the red zone starting well above 8,000.
Power goes through a seven speed dual clutch automatic to the rear wheels only. Shifts are near instant, and the gearbox is a large part of why the Pista feels so urgent. Ferrari's Side Slip Control and the wide body aerodynamics, including the front S duct and the rear diffuser seen in the photographs, let an ordinary owner use performance that would be frightening in an older supercar. Steering is quick and light by Ferrari standards, and the car turns in with an eagerness the standard 488 does not quite match.
Compared with a modern grand tourer, the Pista is louder, firmer and far more demanding of attention. It is not a relaxed machine, and that is exactly what its buyers want. This car also has the suspension lifter, which matters in real life for driveways, ramps and the uneven roads many owners face.
Auction Details
The car is at USS Tokyo, lot 75591, with the auction on 8 October 2026 in Japan. The sheet is titled as the imported car prime corner. The auction grade is 5, the interior grade is A and the exterior grade given in the data is 5. The auction start price is ¥79,800,000.
Similar cars sold at Japanese auctions are an indication only. Factory Features and Equipment
The sheet marks genuine alloy wheels, power steering, power windows, leather, navigation and airbags, and shows automatic air conditioning. The Ferrari personalisation plate in the photographs is far more detailed and is a useful record of how the car was ordered. Options listed include the adaptive frontlight system, Alcantara seat inner trim in Cuoio 4015, yellow brake callipers, carbon fibre front flaps, carbon fibre side air splitter, carbon fibre engine covers, carbon fibre rear diffuser, carbon fibre inner sill trim and carbon fibre upper centre console trim.
The plate also lists coloured inner details, Ferrari telemetry, the suspension lifter, the Cavallino stitched on the headrests in Bianco 2000, black tailpipe tips, additional coloured mats with logo, Scuderia Ferrari shields, electrochromic mirrors, the Radionavi system with Bluetooth, a parking camera, an integrated audio system, coloured special stitching in Bianco 2000 and the track inner cam kit. Some lines on the plate are partly covered in the photograph, but they appear to include an extended racing livery, dark painted rims and racing seats in a medium size. The special equipment note reads extended racing livery in Bianco Avus 229025, and passenger compartment details in white leather.
The sales points on the sheet add the 20 inch forged dark painted wheels and the carbon fibre racing seats. Wheel and tyre brand details visible in the photographs show Michelin tyres. We cannot confirm the tyre model or tread depth from the images.
Japanese Auction Report Translation
The sheet confirms the lot number 75591, overall grade 5, interior grade A, and first registration of Reiwa 1, September. The model is given as Ferrari 488 Pista, body CP, grade blank, drive 2WD, engine size 3900 cc, chassis code ABA-F142BL, usage history blank. The shaken expires on 19 September Reiwa 10, which is 2028. The transmission is AT, air conditioning is automatic, and the odometer reads 7,065 km. The fuel is petrol, the exterior colour is black marked as the original colour, the colour code is blank and the interior colour is blank. The new car service book with warranty card is marked present. Import type is dealer, steering is left, and the import model year, transfer document expiry, load capacity and serial number fields are blank.
The inspector's report reads: stone chips around the front, small scratches in the cabin, and small scratches and small dents. The points to note list the carbon fibre front flaps and side air splitter, the rear diffuser and carbon engine covers, the carbon fibre inner sill and centre console trim, the Alcantara seat inner trim and lower dashboard, the Cuoio leather rear wall with white special stitching, and the black tailpipe tips with parking camera. The final note says warranty book, manuals and spare key to follow. That means the spare key was not with the car at inspection, and whether one will actually arrive is not confirmed. The service book is present, but the manuals and warranty book are described as to follow, so please confirm what will physically accompany the car.
No engine noise, transmission fault, oil or coolant leak, warning light, air conditioning fault, rust, accident repair or smoke is mentioned on the sheet.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The diagram carries five marks. A1 at the front bumper is a small scratch. The mark labelled トビA at the front of the car, in the bonnet area, means stone chips, although the exact panel is hard to read with certainty. An A on the left side at the door area is a scratch, and an A on the right side at the door area is another scratch, neither carrying a size number. At the rear bumper, スリA denotes a scuff with scratch.
There are no dent, repaint, replaced panel, rust or corrosion marks on the diagram. In plain English, the paintwork has the light wear you would expect on a low mileage supercar: front stone chips, a few scratches on the doors and a scuffed rear bumper. The photographs show glossy black paint and a clean white livery, though they are auction photographs and cannot show everything. Overall this is a very strong, usable enthusiast condition car, close to collector grade on the evidence of the sheet, but the front chips are worth inspecting given how costly Ferrari paint and carbon repairs can be.
Interior Condition
The interior grade is A. The inspector notes small scratches in the cabin, and the Alcantara seat inner trim, lower dashboard and Cuoio leather rear wall are all itemised as features. The photographs show a tan Alcantara dashboard, a carbon fibre centre console and gear selector area, tan seats with white stitching, and a Pista Spider badge on the dashboard. The steering wheel is leather and carbon with the Ferrari manettino and engine start button, and a carbon rev light strip sits above it. We can see no obvious tears or stains, but the seats are partly covered by protective plastic in some photographs. Seat wear underneath is not confirmed. The cluster in the photographs shows a message in Japanese asking about connecting a device, which appears to be a Bluetooth prompt rather than a fault warning.
Japanese Auction Grades
Grade 5 on a Japanese auction sheet is very high, usually meaning excellent condition with minimal wear, and interior grade A is the top interior mark. Together they describe a car that the inspector found clean and well kept. It is an independent guide, not a guarantee of mechanical health.
Model History
Ferrari introduced the 488 GTB in 2015 to replace the 458, switching from a naturally aspirated V8 to a twin turbo 3.9 litre engine. The Pista followed in 2018 as the most extreme road version, named after the Italian word for track, and shared its engine development with the 488 Challenge and GTE racing programmes. Its output of 720 PS and its weight saving and aerodynamics made it the most focused mid engined V8 Ferrari of its era. The Pista Spider arrived later in 2018 with a retractable hard top, offering the same engine and much of the same aerodynamic hardware with open air driving. The 488 Pista was succeeded by the F8 Tributo.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
The Pista was produced in far smaller numbers than the standard 488 and arrived at the end of the era of the Ferrari mid engined V8 with the 488 engine that enthusiasts regard as a high point of the turbo age. It has racing derived engineering, a distinctive aerodynamic body and hugely dramatic performance. The Spider adds exclusivity and open air driving. Cars with low mileage, bold personalisation and an unmodified look are the ones collectors want, and a left hand drive dealer import with its service book in Japan is appealing for buyers around the world. This is not an investment recommendation and no future value is guaranteed, but demand for the best examples is global. It is also not eligible for the United States 25 year rule, so import conditions depend on your own country.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
Start with the service history, since a Ferrari lives or dies by its maintenance record. The sheet says the service book is present, so ask for any dealer stamps. Check for the spare key, manuals and warranty book that are marked to follow. Inspect the front bumper, bonnet and carbon splitter areas for chips and cracks, as the sheet already notes stone chips. Look at the roof mechanism if the car is a Spider, including seals and operation. Check the tyres, the brake discs, the suspension lifter operation, the dual clutch gearbox behaviour at low speed and the electrics, especially the infotainment and camera. Ask about any outstanding Ferrari recalls or software updates, and confirm the registration documents for your own country's import rules.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japan's auction system gives a clear, independent view of condition, and Ferraris sold through dealers are often kept in climate controlled storage and covered by documented ownership. Low mileage cars like this one with the service book present are valuable, and you can see exactly what the inspector recorded.
Ultimate Guide For Japanese Imports
Importing a Japanese car involves winning the auction, paying, arranging export documents, shipping and clearing customs in your own country. Rules on age, emissions, safety and taxes differ by country, so check your local requirements before you bid. Left hand drive cars like this one suit markets that drive on the right.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before auction but remain used vehicles. The auction sheet is an independent condition guide, not a mechanical warranty. A performance Ferrari may need servicing, maintenance or refurbishment after purchase. Please note the important points on this sheet again: stone chips around the front, scratches on both sides and the rear bumper, small scratches in the cabin, small dents, and the spare key, manuals and warranty book marked as to follow. The body style should also be confirmed, as the sheet says coupe while the photographs and plate say Spider.
