Overview of the Ferrari 488 Pista
This Ferrari 488 Pista is a January 2019 first registration, finished in red, and it is offered at USS Tokyo as lot 75229 on 15 October 2026. The odometer on the auction sheet reads 1,330 km, approximately 826 miles, which makes it close to new. It is graded 5 overall with an interior grade of A, it is a left hand drive dealer import, and the inspector found nothing beyond small scratches.
The Pista is the track bred, road legal peak of the 488 family, built around a twin turbocharged 3.9 litre V8 and a seven speed dual clutch gearbox. Cars with this little use and this grade rarely reach the Japanese auction floor, and the red paint, carbon trim and sports seats shown in the photographs suit the model exactly.
The Drive Review
The 488 Pista takes the 488 GTB and strips away its civility. Ferrari quotes 720 CV from the 3,902 cc twin turbo V8, with 770 Nm of torque, and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 2.85 seconds. The numbers matter less than how the engine delivers them. Turbo lag has been tuned out to the point where the response feels close to a naturally aspirated Ferrari, and the engine pulls hard to a limit near 8,000 rpm, which you can see on the tachometer in the photographs. The sound is flatter and harder edged than a 458, but it is loud, urgent and addictive.
The gearbox is the seven speed F1 dual clutch, which shifts quickly and decisively under load and is calmer around town. Steering is quick and light in the hand, the car is rear wheel drive, and the chassis is built around Ferrari's Side Slip Control, which lets a driver explore slip angles with a safety net. The Pista's aerodynamics, including the S Duct on the bonnet and the rear diffuser, give real downforce at speed. Compared with a modern hybrid supercar it is lighter, simpler and more mechanical, and the ride is firm. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are visible in the photographs, which tells you what the car is for.

Vehicle Specifications
The sheet gives the chassis code as ABA-F142BL and the model as Ferrari 488 Pista, base grade, in coupe form with two doors and two seats. The first registration is January 2019 (Heisei 31). The engine size is 3,900 cc, the fuel is petrol, the transmission is automatic and the drive is listed as 2WD. The steering is on the left. The odometer reads 1,330 km, approximately 826 miles. The exterior is original red, and the colour change box is marked with an arrow that we read as no colour change, although the sheet does not say so in words. The colour code and interior colour boxes are blank. The frame number is ZFF90HMJ000240709, and the same chassis number appears on the key card in the photographs. The sheet gives the dimensions as 461 cm long, 197 cm wide and 120 cm high, with a Yamanashi registration plate. The import type is dealer, meaning an official import. The recycling deposit is ¥12,290.
Factory Features and Equipment
The sheet marks genuine alloy wheels, power steering, power windows, navigation and airbags, and it lists automatic air conditioning. The photographs show the Japanese language navigation screens in the instrument binnacle, a carbon fibre and Alcantara interior with red stripes and red stitching, fixed back carbon shell seats, a carbon fibre centre console and carbon engine bay covers. The wheels are silver multi spoke alloys with red calipers over drilled discs. We cannot confirm from the sheet whether the brakes are carbon ceramic, or which factory options were specified, so please ask us for the detail. White and dark racing stripes run over the bonnet and roof.
Japanese Auction Report Translation
The sheet is titled Imported Car Prime Corner. The vehicle history box is blank. The shaken (Japanese roadworthiness inspection) is valid until 18 March 2028. The new car service book with warranty booklet is marked as present. The tick box for the spare tyre is printed only and is not marked.
The points to note read: the quick reference guide, warranty card, spare key and battery conditioner will be sent at a later date. The body cover is in the boot. The inspector's report reads simply small scratches. The photographs show a reference guide, warranty card, roadside assistance wallet and one red key with its card, so the second key and the battery conditioner are not in the pictures. Owner manuals beyond the reference guide are not confirmed.
Our reading of the sheet found nothing about engine noise, gearbox operation, oil or coolant leaks, warning lights, air conditioning faults, suspension, rust, accident repair or replaced panels. Nothing is recorded, but the sheet is not a mechanical inspection, and there are no comments on the underbody.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The diagram has four marks, all in the A family, meaning scratches. The front bumper carries an A with a scuff note, a surface scratch in the paint. Both side sill areas between the wheels are marked A, and the rear bumper is marked A. None of the marks has a size number (1, 2 or 3) written beside it, so we cannot say whether they are small or large, but the inspector's summary of small scratches suggests light marks.
There are no dents, repair marks, rust, corrosion, cracks or replaced panel codes. The photographs agree: the red paint looks clean and glossy, and the carbon front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser are the places to inspect for the scratches the sheet records. Overall this is close to collector grade in condition, with only the light marks that come from low use and transport.
Interior Condition
The interior is graded A, the top grade. The photographs show clean black Alcantara on the dash and doors, red piping, unmarked carbon shell seats, an embroidered 488 Pista floor mat and a tidy centre console. The odometer in the photographs reads 1,330 km. The inspector records no smoke, odour, seat damage or headlining problem. The interior colour is not stated on the sheet.
Japanese Auction Grades
Japanese auction grades run from 1 to 5 for the body, with 5 near the top and reserved for very clean cars, and A to D for the interior, with A the best. This car has a grade of 5 overall, an interior of A and an exterior of 5. That puts it in the best band the auction uses.
Model History
Ferrari revealed the 488 Pista at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show as the successor in spirit to the 430 Scuderia, the 360 Challenge Stradale and the 458 Speciale. It sits above the 488 GTB and is built with learning from the 488 Challenge and GT3 racing cars. The name means track in Italian. The V8 was extensively reworked, with lighter internals and more power than the GTB, and the aerodynamics and weight reduction were designed with circuit use in mind. A Pista Spider followed. The 488 was replaced by the hybrid 296 GTB, so the Pista is regarded as the last pure combustion mid engined V8 of its era.
Why This Ferrari 488 Pista Has Become Collectible
Special series Ferraris tend to be remembered, and the Pista is the last of the lineage that did not rely on hybrid assistance. It was built in limited demand and sold quickly, and the engine was widely praised, being named International Engine of the Year in 2019. Collectors want low mileage cars with books and keys, and this one, at 1,330 km, is at the very top of that wish list. Japanese cars are often cared for carefully, supported by the shaken and the service book, and the supply of such examples is shrinking. Demand is worldwide, and nothing here is a guarantee of future value.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
Check that the service book is stamped by an authorised Ferrari dealer, and confirm with the dealer the status of the warranty for your country. On a car with so few kilometres the issue is age rather than wear: ask about the battery, as these cars dislike standing, and the sheet says a battery conditioner will follow. Look at the carbon splitter and diffuser for stone chips and parking damage, and at the sills, where this sheet records scratches. Ask about the seven speed gearbox software and any open recalls on the chassis number. Confirm the specification of the brakes and the factory options, which the sheet does not list. Also check the second key and the manuals arrive as the sheet promises, since a Pista with no spare key is harder to sell.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japan offers cars that are lightly used, honestly graded and maintained to dealer standards, and the sheet gives a clear inspection that few other markets match. A Pista with 1,330 km and an A interior is a rare find anywhere in the world.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but they are still used vehicles. The auction sheet is an independent condition guide and not a mechanical warranty. A performance car like the Pista may need servicing, battery care or maintenance after purchase. Please note the inspector's warnings again: small scratches to the front bumper, both sills and the rear bumper, with no size recorded, and a spare key, warranty card, quick reference guide and battery conditioner still to be sent by the seller. Please also note the body cover is in the boot.
