Overview of the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider
This Ferrari 488 Pista Spider (chassis code ABA-F142BL) is offered at USS Tokyo as lot 70254 in the imported car section, with the auction on 22 October 2026. It was first registered in January 2020 (Reiwa 2), is a 2019 model year official dealer import, and carries an auction grade of 4.5 with an interior grade of B. The odometer on the sheet reads 9,035 km, approximately 5,614 miles. The Pista Spider is the open car version of Ferrari's most extreme V8 road car of its era, and this one is a left hand drive car finished in Blue Electrico with a yellow and white racing stripe, a white toned interior with Alcantara and blue accents, and yellow Giallo Modena brake calipers.
The sheet confirms the new car service book with warranty booklet is present, and shaken is valid until 2 March 2027. For anyone looking for a low mileage, specification rich Ferrari 488 Pista Spider from Japan, it is a car that deserves close attention.
The Drive Review
The Pista takes the 488 GTB and sharpens it for the track. Its 3.9 litre twin turbocharged V8 (F154 family) produces 720 PS, more than the standard 488, and the Pista reworks the engine with lighter internals, revised intake and a more aggressive character. What matters on the road is how little lag remains. Turbo response is sharp enough that the car feels far closer to a naturally aspirated Ferrari than the numbers suggest, and the engine pulls hard right to the redline. The rev counter in the photographs is marked to 10, and the rear exhausts give the car a harder, louder voice than the 488 GTB.
The gearbox is the seven speed dual clutch, shifted by large paddles on the steering column. It is quick, and in the more aggressive settings it is brutally crisp. The manettino on the steering wheel, with its Wet position visible on the cluster in the photographs, lets you soften the car for poor weather. Steering is fast and precise, and the car is rear wheel drive with the sort of front end grip that makes it feel smaller than it is. The Spider adds a retractable hard top and an open air V8 soundtrack. You give up a little stiffness and some weight against the coupe, but you gain the sound, which is much of the point of a Ferrari V8.
Against modern cars the Pista feels more alive than most hybrid supercars. There is no electric assistance, and the focus is on throttle, steering and noise. It is demanding when pushed, but it is also civilised enough to use for a long drive.

Factory Features and Equipment
The sheet marks genuine alloy wheels, power steering, power windows, leather, navigation and airbags, with automatic air conditioning. The sales points list carbon fibre front air vents, outer sill covers, a rear bumper moulding (the text is cut off after Moul), front flaps, side air splitters, a rear diffuser, engine cover, inner sill trim, Giallo Modena coloured brake calipers (cut off after Calipe), sport seats with lifter, and auto dimming mirrors. A further entry reads White Rev, which is cut off and probably refers to a white rev counter, but this is not certain.
The points to note add coloured seat belts, special coloured stitching, a coloured leather finished steering wheel, Alcantara seat centres, Alcantara carpeting, the prancing horse embroidered on the headrests, racing stripes, and a body cover in the boot. In the photographs the yellow and white stripe runs over the bonnet, roof and rear deck, and the cabin shows white leather with black Alcantara and blue piping.
Japanese Auction Report Translation
The inspector's report records four points. The dashboard panel is lifting. The seats show creases and are slightly dirty. There are scratches on the underside, and small scratches elsewhere on the body. The service book with warranty booklet is circled as present. A spare key, owner manuals other than the service book and the number of keys are not confirmed on the auction sheet. The spare tyre symbol is printed on the diagram but not marked.
No engine, gearbox, oil leak, air conditioning, warning light, suspension or rust comments are recorded by the inspector, and there is no accident repair or replaced panel noted. Two translation points are uncertain: the cut off sales point text mentioned above, and the exact panel behind the side A marks described below. The sheet was translated and checked by Autoselecta.
Damage Diagram and Body Condition
The diagram shows an A mark with a scuff note on the front bumper. That is a scratch with no size number, together with a scuff, so it is the lowest priority but visible mark on the nose. There are also A marks on the left and right sides, around the door or sill area. They are scratches without a size number, and the exact panel is not certain from the line position. The rear bumper carries an A1, a small scratch. There are no dents, repair marks, rust, corrosion, cracked glass or replaced panel marks on the diagram.
The photographs show a clean body and good paint with strong gloss, and the stripe graphics are intact. Overall this is a usable collector grade car with minor cosmetic marks consistent with a 4.5 grade, and the underside scratches should be taken seriously on a car this low.
Interior Condition
The interior grade is B. The sheet notes dashboard panel lifting and creased, slightly dirty seats. The photographs show the white leather and black Alcantara sport seats with a blue stripe, Alcantara on the dashboard top with the 488 Pista Spider badge, carbon fibre trim, a carbon steering wheel with a yellow prancing horse and blue stitching. The cluster shows 9036 km. Interior smell, headlining and carpet wear are not confirmed on the auction sheet. White seats at this level of use are best judged with extra photographs before bidding.
Japanese Auction Grades
Japanese auctions grade overall condition from 1 to 5, with 4.5 sitting just below the top tier for a car with minor marks only. The interior grade runs from A to D, so B is good with some visible wear. In this case a 4.5 and B match the sheet's small scratches and the interior comments.
Model History
Ferrari revealed the 488 Pista coupe in 2018 as the successor in spirit to the 458 Speciale and 430 Scuderia, built from the 488 Challenge race car experience. The Pista Spider was shown at Pebble Beach in August 2018, adding the folding hard top. The V8 was lifted to 720 PS, aerodynamics included the S-Duct at the front and the rear diffuser, and the car was far lighter than the standard 488. The standard 488 won International Engine of the Year several times, and the Pista version took that engine to its fullest road going form. It was the last pure V8 in the line before the SF90 Stradale brought hybrid power.
Why This Model Has Become Collectible
The Pista Spider is a final, most extreme combustion V8 of Ferrari's mid engine line, in an era when the brand has moved on to hybrid power. It was produced in limited numbers, though an exact production figure is not confirmed here. Demand has remained global, especially for open cars in appealing specifications. A low mileage car with the original service book and dealer history, such as this one, is the kind of car collectors look for. The Blue Electrico and yellow stripe combination is distinctive, which helps the car stand out, and sourcing clean Pistas directly from Japan is getting harder. This is not an investment recommendation and future values cannot be guaranteed.
What To Look For When Buying This Model
Start with the car's own sheet: the dashboard panel lifting, the creased seats and the underside scratches. Ask for underside photographs and look at the front splitter and lift system area, as Pistas are low and the front lift matters for ramps and kerbs. The cluster in the photographs shows LIFT ON, so the lift system should be checked in operation.
On the model generally, the dual clutch gearbox needs regular fluid service and a smooth take off from rest. The folding hard top mechanism should be tested through full cycles, along with the seals. Check the carbon parts for stone chips and lacquer damage, and check the brakes, as carbon ceramic discs are costly to replace on a car like this. Ask for a Ferrari specialist inspection and a read of the service history, including recall work and software updates.
Why Import This Car From Japan
Japanese cars are often kept in climate controlled garages and serviced to dealer schedules, with detailed auction sheets that show faults clearly. A dealer import with 9,035 km and a service book is a strong starting point.
Ultimate Guide For Japanese Imports
After purchase, the car is deregistered in Japan, prepared for export and shipped. Each country has its own import, emissions and registration rules, so check what applies in your own country before bidding. Autoselecta can advise on the process from auction to arrival.

Auction Caution
Auction cars are inspected before sale but remain used vehicles. The auction sheet is an independent condition guide, not a mechanical warranty. A supercar such as the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider may need servicing, maintenance or refurbishment after purchase. The inspector's warnings for this car are the dashboard panel lifting, creased and slightly dirty seats, scratches on the underside and small scratches on the front bumper, both sides and the rear bumper. Spare key and manuals other than the service book are not confirmed on the sheet.
